Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jerrod Carmichael, Rose Byrne, Seth Rogen and Zac Efron of Neighbors

Universal Pictures releases Neighbors on May 9th, 2014.

NYC MOVIE GURU: What do you think makes a fraternity so significant?

Jerrod Carmichael: People use it to connect with other people. I'm sure someobody got a job from a fraternity once or twice.

NYC MOVIE GURU: What was it like during the party scenes?

JC: These party scenes had to be like a monster to coordinate. It was like 250 extras along with us. You don’t forget all the smoke and these military grade lights we weren’t allowed to stare into. We had to wear protective goggles. A lot of work comes with this."

Christopher Mintz-Plasse: I have asmtha, so I went to the hospital after we shot five days in the house with just a bunch of smoke. I was in the hospital for like, four hours---just being a nerd."

NYC MOVIE GURU: How did you prepare for the scenes where you impersonated Robert DeNiro?

Dave Franco: I was most anxious about that scene more than any other when I read the script. So from day one, I was trying to perfect the impersonation so I was looking up videos on YouTube and actually watching De Niro movies, and jusr trying to figure out what he does with his face, and I just couldn’t get it. I’m not good with impressions, so literally the night before I just stood in front of the mirror and just physically pushed my face around and it just kinda took form, and then you throw on the mole and the pleated khakis and give me the cat and I’m just following through with it. It hurts, man, when you’re doing it for like 6 hours. Try to do it for like 5 seconds!

NYC MOVIE GURU: What are your experiences like with a bad neighbor?

Seth Rogen: My current neighbor I don't like. He's been building his house for the past two years and he starts at 7:30 in the morning every day and he is very nasty about it. He knows I don't like it and we argue a lot. My method of dealing with it is that I scream at him every three months and it makes me feel a little better. But it does nothing as far as the progress of the house goes.

NYC MOVIE GURU: Rose, do you think your character in the film goes beyond the stereotype of a wife?

Rose Byrne: We wanted to not make her the usual stock female character. You know: the nagging wife in the corner. We tried to make her as irresponsible and irreverent as the rest of the cast.

DF: I just love how silly she is and she just goes toe to toe with Seth. She’s not the typical wife in the movie who’s naggy or just getting walked over by the husband. She crushes it.

NYC MOVIE GURU: At what point in your life did you know that comedy was meant for you?

Zac Efron: Right about now. These past few weeks.

SR: I started doing stand-up when I was 13-years-old, so I always thought I was hilarious. It took 10 years for everyone to agree with me.

NYC MOVIE GURU: What do you imagine as a double feature with Neighbors?

DF: Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds would make a great double feature.
